Suggestions on the draft of the new DVI Guide

The new DVI Guide is a result of the need to implement some new developed and adopted forensic procedures, techniques, good practices and experiences during the period of last few years which influenced the Disaster Victim Identification in general.

It should contain only general information (disaster management, identification methods, victim identification and international co-operation) and various links to special subjects such as DNA, forensic medicine, dental medicine, fingerprinting, barcodes, marking of bodies, refrigeration of bodies, AM data collection, etc., so that each specialized field is complemented by corresponding link to additional specialized contributions.

The guide should contain a provision for additional links to special subjects in connection with future missions (NBC weapons, earthquake regions) that could be included subsequently.

The new version should be more compact and therefore more convenient for use on a mission.

In addition, a "pocket version" should also be developed.

This draft version will be posted for the next 3 months, and will allow all the interested parties and individuals to provide feedback, suggestions or amendments in order to make this guide more universal.

Please send any remarks, suggestions, and amendments to the following address:

All suggestions will be reviewed by the Interpol DVI Steering Group and will be considered for the final version. As agreed we will aim to complete the work by the end of this year.

Interpol DVI Steering Group deeply appreciates your cooperation on this matter.
